This piece fails to add back in the cost of medical care for these "Hospice" patients for inpatient services at end of life if there was not a Medicare Hospice bennefit, when the "Baby Boomers" are needing those services. Its not only hospital admissions but ER visits for crisis care. ER visits cost roughly $900.00 for 15 min. that is more than eight times more than the hospice gets for the 24 hour period. Out of the money the hospice gets they pay for Nurses, Social Workers, Chaplains, Home Health Aides, Home Makers, Medical Equipment, and Medications. Hospice is a bargin at $125.00 a day even if the patient lives past the six month limit.
